Teaching and Advising

In my teaching, I guide students toward an understanding of how the humanistic arts help clarify real-world, contemporary issues. What can novels help us understand about the experience of immigration? How can flash fiction and short stories reveal so much about the nature of war? Why are certain plays considered “timeless” and “universal” in their illustration of power, authority and social justice? Can lore about the supernatural help us understand social values and norms?
